We at Poiesis Society for Poetry work for the inclusion of poetry in our day to day lives. Poiesis is a Greek word which means “to make” and this is also the root word for modern poetry.

The root of our modern “poetry”, was first a verb, an action that transforms and continues the world.

We at POIESIS believe that Poetry is a Spiritual ART and helps in individual and collective Healing.

PRIMARY GOALS:

1.  Poetry as a Spiritual Art– SPREADING THE WORD AND FORM.

2. Developing of poetic practice through competitions, groups and working on opportunities for meetups and recitation programs, and through publication of poetry.

3. Inclusion of Poetry in Institutions of repute: in and outside INDIA.

With its long standing heritage in the Sanskrit Vedas, Upanishad, Greek literature,  Sumerian Epic of Gilgamesh, Folk songs as Chinese Shijing, Zoroastrian Gathas, and the Homeric epics, the Iliad and the Odyssey, its inclusion in national anthems, philosophy, affirmations, prayers, mantras, POETRY needs to be explored for features such as repetition, verse form and rhyme, and the aesthetics which distinguish it from more objectively informative, prosaic forms of writing.

Our work has just begun.

Join us in the task.

Thank you so very much for building this community of poets across languages and also for highlighting them as healers, soldiers of peace and agents of human revolution!

At some stage we would also develop it as a vibrant platform where the the sibling art forms: music , painting and photography at least join poetry for a Sufi dance of intense togetherness:quashing all hierarchies, melting all divides, weaving cosmic with the commonplace!

The night of waiting is past
And I have no complains
In the beginning it seemed difficult
But as the hours progressed
I also lost myself to
Darkness and
Delusions.
